I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore…

I got into Rome today. After a frightening taxi ride and 45 sweltering minutes, I made it to my apartment. I met my roommate (he’s pretty cool), and then we took to the streets to see what we could find. We found pizza, gelato, and some cool sights just down the road from our apartment. (Pictures will be up soon). Afterward, we got slammed by jet lag and naps came along uninvited. After we woke up, we took to the streets once more, only to find out Italy had won the semi finals of the Euro cup. Currently, every car, bus, and scooter going by is honking, carrying a flag, or both. One guy was on top of a parked car waving an Italian flag at everyone crossing. It’s an interesting feeling, watching everyone else be so exuberant while the current events have almost zero impact on yourself. I do, however, want to go find an Italian futbol jersey now…

Off to see the wizard…

So, world, (more like my parents and my girlfriend, probably the only ones who read this), it’s 2:45 am and I’m currently sitting at Lambert Airport in St. Louis, waiting for my 6 am flight. So they say to be at the airport 3 hours in advance of your flight. What they don’t tell you is that TSA security doesn’t open until 4 am… So here I am. Bags have been packed for a week, goodbyes have been said, tentative plans made. I’m off on a grand adventure. Well, after waiting for TSA to open, getting on a plane, landing in Chicago, waiting 2 hours, taking off again, landing in London, waiting 8 hours, and leaving london… Well I guess that’s part of the adventure too eh? Now, off to find food…
